I'm a
magician in my shop working with hot molten metal,
electricity and fire. My experiences in
farming, painting, fiber arts and mothering go into
each piece. I'm a tourist, an adventurer, an
explorer and a collector. My approach to
sculpture is bold and spontaneous. Always
experimenting, I layer tiny pieces of metal like a
quilt. I use
my arc welder as a drawing tool. Often the work is
further enlivened with bright durable paint.
As my favorite artist Alexander Calder once said,
"my work is my play". |

My
work is represented by Bluestem Gallery of Missouri
Crafts in Columbia Missouri and by the Cottage Gallery in
Hermann, Missouri. I also do commissioned work.
In addition to hundreds of private collections around the
country, my work is permanently on display at the Shaw
Nature Preserve (of the Missouri Botanical Garden) in Gray
Summit Mo, the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO., and
the Emmanuel Episcopalian Church
in Columbia MO. |

My studio is located in a
tiny barn behind the Cottage Restaurant and Gallery in
Hermann, MO. My studio hours are somewhat irregular,
so if you would like to see me at work please call ahead.
If I'm not in the barn I may be working in the
kitchen, and my painting work is done at home. If
I'm not there my work can still be seen in the restaurant
and is available for sale in the gallery. The
restaurant and gallery hours are Wed. and Thurs. 11:00-2:00,
Fri. and Sat. 11:00-8:00, and Sun. from 10:00-2:00.
To reach me at the Cottage call (573)486-4300. |

I like to think of
myself as the trash queen. I try to utilize every scrap.
The scale of my work varies from tomato paste can
dogs to the 25ft. x 12ft. ceiling sculpture in steel,
copper and glass at the University of Missouri.
Bigger pieces yet to come!
Each of the sculptures is given a beautiful and durable
finish of clear Rustoleum paint. The protective coating of paint
insures that the work will maintain its strength and
beauty weather it is placed indoors or out. |

Garden Murals in
steel can be created to fit any space. They are
durable enough to be used as a trellis, or bring a feel
of the garden indoors. |

|
 |
Much of the time
spent on commissioned pieces is in coming up with an
agreed upon design. |
|
|
Many of my sculptures
are embellished with paint. I am greatly inspired
by the wood carvers of Oaxaca Mexico and their bright
and zany painting. |

I love working in
steel because of its strength, flexibility and
durability. I've recently begun working in
stainless which is even more durable than ferrous steel
and offers an entire new palette of flame created
patinas. |
|
In addition to my
sculptural work I make jewelry out of wine bottles
recycled in an enameling kiln. I make cards from
recycled paper, and ornaments from salvaged tin cans. |
 |

I'm excited
about the idea of teaching workshops. I teach
classes in card making, basketry, hypertuffa vessels,
and vegetarian cooking and am open to other ideas. |
